Chilly Pops, LLC started out in the kitchen of Peggy
Bartosh years ago with her, her husband and their
two daughters. They made popsicles all the time while
their kids were growing up. In 2000, Peggy came down
with a rare and deadly form of cancer. She visited
MD Anderson’s in Houston, Texas where she was
told she needed to eat fresh fruits and vegetables
along with their seeds. She was told to come up with
ways to eat those fruits and vegetables in a way
that tasted good to her. Frozen paletas/popsicles
and smoothies were her favorite food items during
her year of high dose chemo/rituxin treatments. We
are happy to say that she is going on ten years cancer
free.
In February of 2009, she lost her job as a Senior
Marketing Manager for a company in Dallas, TX that
was in the Senior Living Industry. Having overseen
the marketing departments of numerous Senior Living
Communities around the US, she had met with many
seniors, as well as their adult children.
One thing all seniors have in common is they like
popsicles and ice cream. While off work, Peggy decided
she wanted to do something that was good for people,
healthy and that would help cancer patients, heart
patients, as well as nursing home patients who don’t
want to eat.
Upon doing additional research on the nutritional
value of the paletas she discovered that these were
also great for weight control as they have little
to no sugar and relatively low calorie content. Plus,
they are made with all fresh fruits/vegetables that
have to preservatives, etc. As a result of this background
and experience, she decided to make her fruit/vegetable
paletas/popsicles to share with others. She tested
them out on friends and family. They were a big
success!
She now has standing orders from friends, local businesses
and family members. She also has her product in grocery
stores throughout Nashville and Franklin, TN. They
are good/healthy for people of all ages.
